With the agreement and assistance of MotorSport Vision Racing (MSVR), Project 8 Racing, the club which organises the Production BMW Championship and Toyo Tyres Racing Saloons Series, devised the Red Nose Walk at Brands Hatch on 15th March.
In blistering March heat, entrants were required to walk one lap around the 1.25 mile circuit, having first donated £10 towards the Red Nose Charity.
In order to get normally lethargic drivers use their legs, a prize of a HANS Device generously donated by MSAR, was on offer to all finishers.
Other than drivers, families, friends and marshals joined in so that 67 people donated to the event. The enterprising Michael Turner, son of Clerk of the Course Nick, spent the morning generating sponsors amongst the race officials and thereby contributed £85. Great job Michael.
With a donation of £100 from TTRS driver Peter Seldon and the MSVR contribution of fines levied on drivers who were late for driver's briefings during the day, £900 in cash was raised. Taking gift aid into account the total will be £1002.
Numerous photographers captured the scene and a video in the spirit of Red Nose, produced by TTRS racer Richard Ibrahim, can be viewed here
Winner of the HANS device PBMW Racer Andy Fletcher said "Thanks to everyone for supporting this fun event and to MSAR for their generous gift of the HANS. I had just bought a new Crash Helmet with HANS posts, and was able to make use of the device in the following races"
